DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Claire Donohue scored two goals while Michelle Hickey added a goal and two assists as FDU-Florham posted a 4-1, Freedom Conference victory over host Delaware Valley College.
With the win, the Devils upped their mark to 6-10 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Aggies fell to 3-10 and 1-4.
Donohue and Hickey teamed up for the first goal just under nine minutes in as Hickey sent a pass to Donohue, whose shot dribbled off the left post and into the net. FDU-Florham then made it a 2-0 contest eight minutes later as Samantha Messina blasted in her first goal of the year (Colleen Furbeck assist).
Delaware Valley cut that lead in half just 87 seconds into the second stanza as
Mary Taylor sent a through pass to
Marianne Morton for a breakaway. Morton beat goalkeeper Anna Bandly for her team-best fifth goal of the season.
However, the Devils picked up an insurance goal with 22:33 remaining as Hickey slid a pass to Donohue, who got free for a shot and connected for goal number nine on the year. Hickey ended the scoring with 7:29 to go as she took a crossing pass from Melanie Anzidei and recorded her sixth tally of the year.
FDU-Florham outshot the Aggies, 29-6, and had a 9-0 advantage in corners as well.
Julie Burnell kept Delaware Valley in the contest with 14 saves while Bandly had four stops at the other end.
