PURCHASE (NY) –
Kayla Meenan scored a pair of second-half goals to lead Manhattanville College to a 4-2 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams.
The Valiants improved to 6-1 overall while the Aggies saw their mark fall to 2-5.
Manhattanville notched the lone goal of the first half as Alyssa Tourdot tipped in a feed from Amanda DeChent with 5:53 left in the stanza. Delaware Valley then wasted no time to tie it up in the second half as, with just 81 seconds off the clock,
Krystle Mazza scored her first goal of the season off a corner opportunity.
However, the Valiants responded with two tallies and a 3-1 advantage. DeChent gave her team the lead for good with 25:58 remaining and Meenan followed with her fourth goal of the year.
Leah Hawthorn made things interesting as the Aggie sophomore received a pass from Maddie Ravellie and scored her fifth goal of the season, but Meenan iced the game with a breakaway tally.
Manhattanville outshot the Aggies, 37-11, in the contest.
Hollis Hancock made 17 saves in the loss.
