GWYNEDD VALLEY (PA) – Gwynedd-Mercy College scored three goals in a 12-minute span in the first half and never looked back as the Griffins defeated visiting Delaware Valley College, 5-0, in a non-conference game.
Gwynedd-Mercy improved its record to 3-2 on the season while the Aggies, who had not taken the field in nine days due to a pair of weather-related postponements, saw their record fall to 1-3.
Midway through the first half, Maria Karidas slipped behind the defense for a mini-breakaway and beat Delaware Valley goalkeeper
Hollis Hancock for a 1-0 lead. Casey Dellostretto followed with 5:51 remaining in the stanza and Karidas assisted on Sarah Jackson's tally just 93 seconds later. Kristy Kelleher notched both second-half goals for the 5-0 final.
The Griffins held advantages of 34-2 in shots and 17-2 in saves. Hancock recorded 19 saves in the loss.
