LANGHORNE (PA) – It was a game of firsts for the Delaware Valley College men's soccer team as freshman
Alex Stear scored his first collegiate goal and it led to a 2-1 triumph over Philadelphia Biblical for the first win of the season and in the coaching career of
Tom Drummond.
Drummond, a Delaware Valley College graduate and former assistant coach, took over the top reigns shortly following the 2010 season. His squad is now 1-2 on the year while the Crimson Eagles saw their mark fall to 1-3.
The game was tied at 1-1 when Stear took a feed from
Tom Masterson and beat Philadelphia Biblical goalkeeper Dave Shaffer with 11:02 remaining for what hat proved to be the game-winning tally.
Stear helped the Aggies take a 1-0 lead just 6:16 into the contest as both he and
Joey Ordile were credited with assists on
Tyler Yankovich's second goal of the season. The Crimson Eagles tied it up early in the second stanza on an unassisted tally by Cody Mosely. That set the stage for Stear's late-game heroics and a Delaware Valley victory.
Philadelphia Biblical held advantages of 21-6 in shots and 8-3 in corners.
DJ Meisinger was strong in net for the Aggies as he stopped nine shots.
