COLLEGEVILLE (PA) – The Delaware Valley College men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the indoor season by competing at the Ursinus College Bow-Tie Classic. The women placed ninth out of 13 teams while the men were 10th out of 13.
Shelby Garner and
Travis Pitts led the Aggies with first-place showings at the event. Garner, a freshman, took top honors in the women's 5,000-meter run as she was clocked in 19 minutes, 42.41 seconds. Pitts, a returning All-American, needed just 7.11 seconds to cross the finish line and top the field in the 60-meter dash.
Freshman
Alexis Maylor added three, top-eight finishes on the day. She was second in the 200-meter dash (27.38 seconds), fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.63 seconds) and eighth in the high jump (1.43 meters).
On the men's side,
Jabari Jackson scored the final five points for Delaware Valley as he was fourth in the triple jump (12.08 meters).
