DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Samantha Sorokas scored two goals and assisted on another as Misericordia University downed host Delaware Valley College, 3-0, in a Freedom Conference game.
It was the season finale for the Aggies as they finished the campaign with a 3-14 overall record and a 1-6 mark in the conference. The win improved Misericordia to 4-10 and 2-5.
Sorokas hit the scoring column just 2:10 into the contest as she took a great feed from Katie Gabriele and beat Delaware Valley goalkeeper
Hollis Hancock on a breakaway. Eleven minutes later Gabriele set up Sorokas again and she connected for her ninth goal of the season.
It stayed a 2-0 until 10:36 was left in the contest when Sorokas sent a ball into the circle and Courtney Thomas was able to finish it for her fourth goal of the year. Misericordia outshot the Aggies, 13-4, while Delaware Valley held an 11-6 advantage in corners.
Hancock, playing in her final collegiate game (along with
Missy Milanese), stopped nine shots to up her season total to a school-record 243. The two-time all-conference keeper finished her career ranked second on the all-time list in both saves (573) and shutouts (12).
