DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Ashley Graham scored three goals as Wilkes University spoiled Delaware Valley College's Homecoming and Senior Day with a 4-1, Freedom Conference victory.
The Lady Colonels clinched a conference playoff berth with the win as they improved to 8-3-3 overall and 4-0-2 in the league. The Aggies fell to 7-6-2 and 3-3 in the Freedom. Delaware Valley will need to go on the road next Saturday and upset conference front-runner Misericordia University and have DeSales University upset FDU-Florham in order to finish in fourth place and make the postseason.
Graham scored two tallies in a six-minute span midway through the first half for the lone goals of the stanza. Delaware Valley cut its deficit in half just 6:41 into the second half as senior
Ariel Butera took a pass from classmate Dane Gentile and notched her second goal of the season.
However, Wilkes regained its two-goal lead just five minutes later on an Alicia Roberts tally. Graham then completed her hat trick with a penalty kick with 22:04 remaining.
The Lady Colonels held a 13-10 advantage in shots. Wilkes' Sam Lindo and the Aggies'
Julie Burnell each had eight saves in the game.
