DELVAL WINS IN OT AT ALBRIGHT

READING (PA) -- An unlikely hero emerged in overtime for Delaware Valley College as freshman Miranda Schieler, normally a goalkeeper, played the field and netted the game-winning goal in the Aggies' 2-1, non-conference triumph at Albright College.

Schieler had played at least a half in net in each of the first eight games this season. In fact, Saturday night was the first time she put a non-goalie uniform for Delaware Valley (3-5-1). Just 5:25 into the extra session, the freshman redirected a crossing pass from Kara Fecanin off a corner kick and notched her first collegiate goal to give the Agges the win.

The Lions (3-3-2) opened the scoringthree minutes into the contest as Lauren O'Brien took a pass from Alex Talbot and put the ball inside the far post. It remained a 1-0 game for the next 56 minutes until Fecanin found the net off an assist by Dana Gentile. That led to overtime and Schieler's heroics.

Delaware Valley held a 12-9 advantage in shots while the overtime corner kick was just its second of the game compared to six by Albright. Julie Burnell went the distance in goal for the Aggies and notched three saves. Olivia Giuliano made five stops for the Lions.
