CENTER VALLEY (PA) – Mindy Minconzi's goal 2:33 into overtime lifted Delaware Valley College to a 1-0 victory at DeSales University in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams.
The Aggies, who were conference semifinalists last season, improved to 7-3 overall on the current campaign, including a pair of overtime triumphs. The Bulldogs saw their mark fall to 4-4.
After a scoreless regulation, the two teams hit the field for seven-on-seven play in the extra session. DeSales had the first opportunity just 37 seconds in, but her shot went wide right of the cage.
Less than two minutes later, Delaware Valley was awarded a penalty corner.
Rony Jacober's shot was stopped by Bulldog goalkeeper Victoria DelToro and the rebound came to Miniconzi around the penalty stroke line. The senior blasted a shot into the cage for her fifth goal of the season.
Delaware Valley held advantages of 10-7 in shots and 10-5 in corners.
Hollis Hancock recorded three saves for her fourth solo shutout of the season (fifth overall). DelToro was credit with five saves in the loss.
