GLENSIDE (PA) –
Leah Hawthorn's goal less than three minutes into the second half proved to be the difference as Delaware Valley College posted a 2-1, non-conference triumph at Arcadia University.
It was the Aggies' fifth win in their last six games as they improved to 6-2 on the season. They will host Wesley College on Thursday before opening conference play at DeSales University on Saturday. Arcadia fell to 5-2 with the loss.
Delaware Valley opened the scoring 21 minutes into the contest as
Rony Jacober notched her fifth goal of the season off an assist by
Marissa Di Miero. However, the Knights tied it up with just 2:13 left in the first half as Adrianne Altera set up a tally by Ashley Griffin.
After firing off 10 shots in the first half, the Aggies managed just one in the second stanza. The one shot however hit the back of the cage as Hawthorn connected for her fourth goal of the year with Di Miero picking up another assist. The defense took care of the rest as they allowed just two shots in the final 35 minutes.
Hollis Hancock finished with three saves and the win for Delaware Valley. Sarah Baumgardner was credited with two stops for Arcadia.
