CHESTER (PA) – Colleen Cormier's goal with 1:17 left in the first overtime gave host Widener University a 2-1, non-conference victory over Delaware Valley College.
The game appeared heading for a second overtime when Cormier took a feed from Kate Fay and beat Aggie goalkeeper
Hollis Hancock for the game-winner. The victory improved the Pride to 8-4 on the season while Delaware Valley fell to 7-5.
After a scoreless first half, Samantha Balonis put Widener on the board 10 minutes into the second stanza with Fay getting credit for the assist. It stayed that wait until 6:12 was left on the clock when
Katy Provenzale sent a feed to
Mindy Miniconzi and the Aggie senior drilled home her sixth goal of the season. That set the stage for overtime and Cormier's heroics for the Pride.
Widener held advantages of 24-9 in shots and 16-3 in corners. Hancock kept Delaware Valley in the game all evening as she finished with 12 saves.
