DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Senior midfielder
Sam Loeber picked the right time to notch her first collegiate goal as her tally with 7:20 remaining lifted Delaware Valley College to a 2-1, Freedom Conference victory over visiting DeSales University.
Loeber was one of three Aggies honored on Homecoming and Senior Day. The two-year team captain had eight career assists but never put the ball in the net. That changed late in the contest as she one-timed a cross from
Marianne Morton past DeSales (5-11-1, 0-5-1) goalkeeper Melissa Millili. The Delaware Valley defense made that go-ahead tally stand the rest of the way.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring 11:19 into the contest as Brady Walsh sent a free kick into the twine for her 14th goal of the season. It stayed that way until six minutes into the second half as Delaware Valley's (5-10-2, 2-3-1)
Dana Gentile took a crossing pass from Morton and scored her team-best sixth goal of the season. That set the stage for Loeber's heroics.
DeSales held advantages of 15-8 in shots and 5-4 in corners. Freshman
Miranda Schieler stopped five shots and picked up her first collegiate win for the Aggies. Millili had two saves at the other end.
