AGGIES OPEN FREEDOM PLAY WITH 2-0 WIN OVER DESALES

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Holly Rich and Danielle Heyne scored first-half goals as Delaware Valley College opened Freedom Conference play with a 2-0 blanking of visiting DeSales University.

The win was the second straight for the Aggies as they improved to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the Freedom. The Bulldogs fell to 2-7 and 0-1 with the setback.

Delaware Valley got all the offense it needed with 17:35 remaining in the first half as Missy Milanes flicked a pass to Holly Rich and the junior deposited it past DeSales goalkeeper Victoria DelToro. It was Rich's sixth goal of the season, including her fourth game-winning tally.

The Aggies upped the lead with 8:04 to go before the half as Danielle Heyne scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Marissa Di Miero. From there, it was all goalkeeper Hollis Hancock and the Delaware Valley defense as they notched a shutout for the second game in a row. Hancock finished with nine saves and lowered her goals against average to 1.65.

The Aggies outshot DeSales, 23-14, while the Bulldogs held a 12-6 advantage in corners. DelToro was credited with 11 saves in the loss.
