AGGIES EDGED BY KING'S 2-1 IN KEY FREEDOM TILT

WILKES-BARRE (PA) – Calli Berryman's goal early in the second half proved to be the difference as King's College squeezed by visiting Delaware Valley College, 2-1, in a Freedom Conference game.

The Lady Monarchs remained in first place in the conference as they ran their record to 8-4 overall and 3-0 in the Freedom. The Aggies fell from the unbeaten ranks in league play as their record dropped to 7-7 overall and 2-1 in the Freedom.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the beginning stages of the second half, Berryman redirected a shot by Shawna Walp past Delaware Valley goalkeeper Hollis Hancock for her first goal of the year. King's defense took care of the rest as it allowed just three shots the rest of the way.

Nikki Rogers gave the Aggies a 1-0 lead just 6:48 into the contest and the junior pounced on a loose ball near the cage and notched her second goal of the season. The Lady Monarchs tied the game with 7:24 remaining in the half as a penalty stroke was awarded and Candice Russ converted her fourth goal of the year – all on penalty strokes.

King's finished the game with advantages of 10-9 in shots and 4-1 in corners. Erin McGinley stopped four shots to pick up the win while Hancock was credited with eight saves for Delaware Valley.
