AGGIES DROP 3-2 DECISION TO WIDENER

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Freshman Nicole Nardone broke a 2-2 tie with 13:43 remaining and Widener University made it stand as the Pride notched a 3-2, non-conference victory over host Delaware Valley College.

Down 2-0, the Aggies (7-6) rallied and scored two goals off of corners in a span of 2:38. Bethany Pavlik put the team on the scoreboard with her 10th tally of the year off a feed from Holly Rich with 18:33 remaining. Mindy Minconzi followed with her fourth goal of the season as she took a corner feed from Danielle Heyne and drilled a shot past Widener goalkeeper Katie Jensen.

However, Widener (6-3) was awarded a penalty corner of its own less than three minutes after Miniconzi's goal. The Pride took advantage of the opportunity as Nardone scored her third goal of the year off an assist from Ellen Etzweiler. The defense then held the Aggies in check for the victory.

Widener needed just 78 seconds to jump out to a 1-0 lead as Jessica Gonzalez tallied an unassisted goal. It stayed a one-goal game until 15 minutes into the second half when Etzweiler found the back of the cage for her second goal of the season.

Widener held advantages of 18-9 in shots and 11-8 in corners. Jensen stopped five shots to earn the victory while Hollis Hancock made nine saves for Delaware Valley.
