DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Mallory Murphy scored 9:32 into the game and Elizabethtown College made it stand as the Blue Jays notched a 1-0 victory over host Delaware Valley College in a non-conference game.
The win improved Elizabethtown to 4-2-1 on the season, while the Aggies' dropped their first game of the year and fell to 3-1.
The Blue Jays had a corner kick opportunity and Brooke Dotterer sent the ball into the box and it squirted to the far post. After a failed clear attempt, Murphy collected it and scored from six yards out for her second goal of the season.
Delaware Valley had golden opportunities throughout the game, but hit the crossbar on two occasions in the first half and clanked one off a goalpost in the second stanza.
Elizabethtown held a 14-11 advantage in shots. Angela Freeland earned the shutout with six stops while the Aggies' Cortney Bower recorded four saves.
