READING (PA) – Janelle Lynch scored two goals to lead Alvernia University to a 3-2 victory over visiting Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.
Both of Lynch's tallies came in the first half and were each off crosses from Katy Eby as the Crusaders (6-4, 1-0 Freedom) took a 2-0 advantage into the intermission. The Aggies cut into the lead 13:52 into the second half as Stephanie Dec sent a pass to Danielle Heyne, who deposited her fifth goal of the year.
It remained a 2-1 contest for the next 10 minutes until Alvernia was awarded a penalty stroke. Ashley Tatengelo took the shot and she beat Delaware Valley keeper Jackie Deschenes for third goal of the year.
The Aggies made things interesting with 1:27 remaining as
Michelle Cernobyl scored her 17th goal of the season off an assist from Lauren Lansberry. However, that was as close as they would come as they fell to 8-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Delaware Valley held advantages of 9-7 in shots and 8-6 in corners. Deschenes finished with three saves while Audrey Hoffman was credited with two saves at the other end.
