DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Yvonne Herbster scored one goal and assisted two others to lead Eastern University to a 4-0, Freedom Conference victory over host Delaware Valley College on Senior Day.
The win improved the Eagles to 11-6 overall and 6-1 in the conference. The Aggies fell to 10-9 overall and 1-6 in the Freedom. They will travel to Manhattanville College for their season finale on Saturday.
Herbster opened the scoring just 91 seconds into the contest as she took a feed from Lindsay Moyer, dribbled into the box and notched her seventh goal of the year. It remained a 1-0 contest for the rest of the half before Eastern connected for three goals in the second stanza. Herbster set up Kimberly Campbell for a goal just 4:49 into the half while Moyer added her team-best 13th tally 13 minutes later. Christian Haas ended the scoring with 12:52 to go off a feed from Herbster.
Eastern held a 22-14 advantage in shots while Laura Ressler and Kelly Herman combined for 10 saves and the shutout.
Senior Jackie Deschenes notched 13 saves in the loss. She was honored before the game along with fellow classmates
Michelle Cernobyl, Meghan Clark, Stephanie Dec, Lauren Lansberry, Amy Stafford and Nicole Steafanoni. The group is the winningest class in Aggie field hockey history with 41 victories.
