AGGIES MOVE INTO SECOND PLACE, CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH WITH 3-1 VICTORY

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley College women's soccer team clinched a Freedom Conference playoff spot for the second year in a row and the third time in the last four years with its 3-1 home victory over DeSales University.

Picked to finish sixth in the conference preseason coaches' poll, the Aggies are now 11-3-1 overall and they moved past the Bulldogs (7-7-1, 4-2) for second place in the standings with a 5-2 mark. Delaware Valley has two games remaining – a conference encounter at Alvernia on October 29 and a home non-conference game with Lebanon Valley on November 1 – on the regular-season schedule.

The Aggies dominated the action on Sunday as they outshot DeSales, 18-6, and held a 5-1 advantage in corners. They hit the scoreboard just 3:09 into the contest as Dana Gentile set up Elise Carpenter for the sophomore's fifth goal of the season. Reigning Freedom Conference Player of the Year Elise Dauber made it 2-0 with 19:44 remaining in the first half as she took a pass from Emily Perryman and deposited her Freedom-best 15th goal of the year.

Dauber and Perryman teamed up again with 10:19 left in the game to make it 3-0. Dana Eustace spoiled the Aggies' shutout bid with 6:09 remaining as her unassisted tally was her 10th of the year.
