DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Senior Emily Perryman scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Delaware Valley College to a crucial, 3-1 victory over visiting FDU-Florham in a Freedom Conference game.
Both teams entered the afternoon with 3-2 conference records and tied for third in the standings. The win moved the Aggies (10-3-1 overall) into a tie for second place with DeSales University based on points with the Bulldogs (4-1) holding a half game lead in the win-loss column. Delaware Valley will host DeSales on Saturday.
Perryman, who sees the majority of her time on the defensive end, opened the game by setting up Elise Dauber for the reigning Freedom Conference Player of the Year's 14th goal of the season. The tally came 16:19 into the contest and was the lone goal of the first half.
Perryman made it 2-0 with 19:10 remaining as she scored off freshman Ariel Butera's first assist of her collegiate career. Perryman struck again thanks to a beautiful header off a Dauber corner kick with 11:24 to go. She now has four goals on the season.
The Devils (8-9 overall) avoided the shutout as Lora Fink scored her ninth goal of the year off an assist from Brittany Kanickij with exactly eight minutes remaining.
Delaware Valley held a 12-9 advantage in shots with FDU-Florham notching an 8-4 advantage in corners. Cortney Bower recorded two saves for the victory while Lauren Albrecht and Melanie Pierson combined for three stops for the Devils.
