DELVAL DROPS 2-1 DECISION AT MISERICORDIA

DALLAS (PA) – Misericordia University scored two, first-half goals and made it stand in a 2-1 win over visiting Delaware Valley in a Freedom Conference game.

The Cougars, who are in their first year in the conference, improved to 11-4 overall and 4-1 in league contests. The Aggies fell to 10-6 overall and 1-3 in the Freedom.

Misericordia notched both of its tallies in the final eight minutes of the half. Shannon Elqorchi struck with 7:36 remaining off an assist by Heather DiMenno and Ashlee Leonard set up Laura Leighow's goal with 2:16 to go before the intermission.

Delaware Valley avoided the shutout in the closing moments as sophomore Mindy Miniconzi scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from Holly Rich.

Misericordia held advantages of 20-11 in shots and 16-11 in corners. Ellen Howanitz stopped six shots to pick up the win while the Aggies' Jackie Deschenes finished with 10 saves.
