READING (PA) – Senior forward
Michelle Cernobyl tied her own school record with her 21st goal of the season as Delaware Valley College notched a 3-1 victory over host Albright College in a non-conference game.
The win was the second straight for the Aggies as they improved to 10-5 on the season. The Lions fell to 3-11.
Delaware Valley held a 2-1 lead in the early moments of the second half when Cernobyl took a feed from Stephanie Dec and struck for her record-tying tally. The goal upped her season point total to 47, leaving her just three behind teammate Bethany Pavlik's mark from last season. Cernobyl is already the Aggies' all-time leader in both goals (67) and points (151).
Albright opened the scoring exactly one minute into the game as Lindsay Neal took a pass from Beth Moran and beat Delaware Valley goalkeeper Jackie Deschenes. However, Dec tied the contest with an unassisted tally just 5:26 later. Holly Rich then gave the Aggies the lead for good with an unassisted goal 9:16 into the half.
The Lions held a 14-12 advantage in shots while Delaware Valley edged them in corners, 7-6. Deschenes played the first 57-plus minutes and notched six saves while Hollis Hancock stopped five shots in the final 12:03. Kaitlyn Johnstone recorded eight saves for Albright.
