DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College scored two goals in a 38-second span late in the contest as the Aggies remained in first place in the Freedom Conference with a 2-0, Homecoming win over Misericordia University.
With the win, the Aggies continued their best start in program history as they improved to 9-1-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in conference play. They are unbeaten in their last seven games (6-0-1) and stayed percentage points ahead of DeSales University (2-0) and Eastern University (2-0) for the top spot in the Freedom. The Cougars, in their first year in the conference, fell to 4-9 overall and 0-3 in league contests.
The game was scoreless for more than 84 minutes before the Aggies struck twice. The first came with 5:33 remaining as reigning Freedom Conference Player of the Year Elise Dauber scored her conference-best 13th goal of the season off an assist from Christine Del Turco. Delaware Valley came right back and Jessica Stahley fed Elise Carpenter for her fourth goal of the year with 4:55 to go.
The Aggies held advantages of 13-5 in shots and 6-1 in corners. Cortney Bower notched two saves to earn the shutout while Jemila Najjar-Keith had five saves for Misericordia.
