DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Holly Rich and
Michelle Cernobyl notched tallies for Delaware Valley College as the Aggies picked up their first win in the Freedom Conference with a 2-0, Homecoming blanking of DeSales University.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Delaware Valley as it improved to 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference. The Bulldogs saw their record fall to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in the Freedom.
Rich gave the Aggies a 1-0 advantage with 22:24 remaining in the first half as she pounced on a loose ball in the circle and deposited her third of the year. It stayed a one-goal contest until 6:48 into the second stanza when Mindy Miniconzi set up
Michelle Cernobyl for the senior's 20th goal of the season. Cernobyl is now just one goal shy of tying the school single-season record that she set last season.
Delaware Valley outshot DeSales, 29-9, including as 17-4 advantage in the second half. Jackie Deschenes recorded five saves to earn the shutout. Jen Bissinger made 10 stops for the Bulldogs.
