Doylestown, Pa- Delaware blanked against Widener in a competitive matchup that featured plenty of chances from both sides.
Widener came out aggressively in the opening half, generating several early scoring opportunities and putting pressure on the Delaware Valley defense. Delaware Valley goalkeeper Nick Becker kept the Aggies writhing reach, making several important saves to keep the game scoreless through the first forty five minutes. In the forty first minute Widener's Stearn received a yellow card.
Delaware Valley created some opportunities of its own late in the first half, with Jayden Sturge firing two additional shots toward goal. Despite the back and forth play, neither team was able to break through before halftime.
Widener finally opened the scoring just over two minutes into the second half when Hartke found the back of the net off an assist from Cole. In the 60th minute Aggie's Zydan Stewart received a yellow card. Delaware Valley continued to battle and generate several chances, including a pair of saves by Widener goalkeeper Hamilton and another shot from Elijah Purtle that struck the woodwork.
As Delaware Valley pushed for an equalizer, Widener remained dangerous on the counterattack. In the eighty first minute, Eberman doubled the lead with an assist from Lopez, giving Widener a 2-0 advantage.
Delaware Valley continued to look for a way back into the match during the final minutes, but Widener's defense held firm. Becker made additional saves to prevent the margin from growing, while Hamilton also turned away several Delaware Valley chances. Widener ultimately secured the 2-0 victory over the Aggie's.
