Early Deficit Holds DelVal, Falls to Bridgewater State

MYRTLE BEACH, SC. - The Bears jumped ahead quickly in the bottom of the first. After Secovich singled and advanced on a sacrifice bunt and stolen base, Flaherty lined an RBI single to right field to bring him home. Sepeck followed with the biggest swing of the inning, driving a three-run home run to right-center to give Bridgewater State a 4–0 lead.

Delaware Valley responded in the second. Gavin Migliori reached on a walk and advanced to third before crossing the plate on a wild pitch, cutting the deficit to 4–1.

The Aggies continued to chip away in the fifth. Andrew Cullinan worked a walk and moved into scoring position before Eli Scott delivered an RBI single down the left-field line to bring Delaware Valley within two runs. Bridgewater State answered in the bottom half of the inning when Valentino doubled and later scored on Berube's RBI double to right-center, extending the lead to 5–2.

Delaware Valley made another push in the sixth. Liam Martin doubled to start the inning, and Nathan Fisher followed being hit by a pitch. A bunt attempt by Nate Ludwick resulted in a throwing error that allowed Martin to score. Later in the frame, John Dzielawa reached on an infield single that drove in Fisher, pulling the Aggies within 5–4. The Bears responded again in the sixth. Flaherty singled and eventually scored on Thornell's RBI single to push the margin back to two runs.

Bridgewater State added an insurance run in the eighth when Beltramini singled through the left side to plate Flaherty, making it 7–4.

Patrick Flynn took the loss for Delaware Valley, working five innings with seven strikeouts. Bridgewater State's Jasmin and the Bears' bullpen combined for 16 strikeouts, with Beach recording the final five outs for the save.

Flaherty led Bridgewater State with three hits and three runs scored, while Sepeck finished with three hits and three RBIs. Delaware Valley collected six hits in the contest, with Martin, Fisher, Migliori, Dzielawa, Scott, and Lucas Santise each contributing one.
