Aggies Fall to Mount Saint Vincent on the Road

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Delaware Valley men's lacrosse team saw five different players find the back of the net, but strong second and third quarters by Mount Saint Vincent proved too much as the Aggies fell, 16-6, on Saturday.

Mount Saint Vincent jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening quarter before Delaware Valley got on the board in the final seconds. Kieran Schneider forced a turnover that led to the Aggies' first goal of the game.

The Dolphins carried their momentum into the second quarter, scoring five unanswered goals over a 12-minute span. Just before halftime, Luca Aliano connected with Dalton Richter to make it 7-2 heading into the break.

Mount Saint Vincent struck twice early in the third quarter, but the Aggies answered when James Cadott scooped up the loose ball off the faceoff and raced downfield for an unassisted goal to cut the deficit to 9-3. After another Dolphins goal, Richter added his second of the game to keep Delaware Valley within six. Mount Saint Vincent closed the quarter with two goals to take a 12-4 lead into the final frame.

Aliano scored in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, but the Dolphins added two more before Danil Didden found Luke Witko for the Aggies' final goal of the day, making it 14-6. Mount Saint Vincent closed the game with two late goals to secure the 16-6 win.

Aliano led Delaware Valley with two goals, six shots and three shots on goal. Cadott finished with a team-high eight ground balls, three caused turnovers and two faceoff wins. Goalkeeper Daniel Hickling played all 60 minutes, making 17 saves on 34 shots faced.

The Aggies return to action on Saturday, March 14, hosting Goucher College at 12 p.m.
