Men's Lacrosse Drops Saturday Contest to Goucher

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley men's lacrosse dropped a non-conference contest to Goucher College, 21-6, on Saturday afternoon.

The Aggies allowed seven goals in the first quarter while Daniel Hickling made three saves in net. Two of the goals came in the final 30 seconds following DelVal turnovers. Luke Witko and Luca Aliano recorded the Aggies' only shots in the period, both stopped by Goucher goalie Steinmiller.

Early in the second quarter, the Aggies blocked a shot and pushed the ball downfield where Witko found the back of the net to get DelVal on the board. Goucher responded by extending its lead to 13-1 before halftime, as Kieran Schneider had a late shot attempt stopped.

Out of the break, Schneider converted a man-up opportunity off an assist from Witko following an offsides call. The Gophers answered with back-to-back goals after Hickling made two quick saves following the Aggies' score. Goucher later committed two penalties on the same play, but DelVal was unable to capitalize despite shots from Dalton Richter and Witko. As the quarter wound down, Goucher's Morgan tested Hickling with three shots—two going wide—before scoring with five seconds left to push the lead to 16-2.

Witko opened the fourth-quarter scoring off the faceoff, but the Gophers responded with a 5-0 run over the next four minutes. Peter DelRossi assisted on back-to-back goals by Schneider, one coming on a man-up opportunity. With 1:17 remaining, Richter scored after James Cadott caused a turnover to make the final score 21-6.

Following the loss, the Aggies fall to 0-5 overall. Delaware Valley will look to get into the win column on Wednesday, March 18, when it travels to Gwynedd Mercy for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
