Men's Lacrosse Falls to Mighty Macs Despite Fourth-Quarter Push

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley men's lacrosse fell to Immaculata, 16-7, on Wednesday night after the visitors built a large halftime lead.

Peter DelRossi recorded the Aggies' first shot after Carlos Panchana caused a turnover, but the attempt was saved. Immaculata responded with a quick offensive surge, scoring seven goals in the opening quarter to take a 7-0 lead.

The Mighty Macs continued their momentum in the second quarter, testing goalie Daniel Hickling early. After three shots went wide, Smaron hit the crossbar before Powell capitalized on a failed DelVal clear to add another goal. With 7:16 remaining in the half, Dalton Richter put a shot on goal during a chippy sequence that resulted in penalties for both teams. Immaculata added three more even-strength goals to extend its advantage to 12-0 at halftime.

Later in the third quarter, with the Aggies trailing by 14, Jake Devereaux caused a turnover during a man-up opportunity. His shot was stopped, but Kieran Schneider gathered the rebound and put DelVal on the board. After another Immaculata penalty, Schneider connected with DelRossi for the Aggies' second goal. Richter had a shot saved and Luke Witko had an attempt blocked as the quarter came to a close.

In the fourth, Immaculata forced Hickling to make three early saves before the Aggies sparked an offensive run. DelVal scored five goals in a four-minute span, with four coming from Schneider and one from Luca Aliano. James Cadott recorded two assists during the burst. Immaculata added two late goals in the final two minutes to secure the 16-7 victory.

The Aggies fall to 0-3 on the season and will travel to face the University of Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday, March 7, in their first road game of the year.
