Fast Start Fades as Aggies Fall to Lions on Senior Day

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's lacrosse team battled stride-for-stride with Albright through the opening half, but a decisive second-half surge by the Lions proved too much as the Aggies dropped a 15-6 decision on Senior Day.

Albright came out applying early pressure, controlling possession in the opening minutes and cashing in on a free-position opportunity to take a 1-0 lead. The Aggies responded quickly, as Charley Lengel-Kramer forced a turnover on the draw to spark the transition, setting up Gabriella Guerra to finish the equalizer. After the Lions regained the edge on another free-position strike, Delaware Valley answered once again—this time with Abbie Hostetler finding Lengel-Kramer to knot the score at the end of the first quarter.

The back-and-forth continued into the second, with Albright reclaiming a one-goal advantage before Lengel-Kramer buried her second of the afternoon to even things at 3-3. However, the Lions capitalized on a player-up opportunity late in the half, taking a 4-3 lead into the break.

Momentum shifted sharply after halftime. Albright's defense locked in, holding the Aggies scoreless through the entire third quarter and into the opening minutes of the fourth while stringing together a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 9-3. Guerra snapped the drought with a free-position goal, and Daisy Kovacs followed with another finish for DelVal. Guerra later connected with Hostetler for the Aggies' final tally, but the Lions closed strong with six more goals to seal the 15-6 final.

Lengel-Kramer and Guerra paced the Aggies offensively with two goals apiece, while Lengel-Kramer led all players with eight shots and five on goal. Guerra and Piper Jones were active all over the field, each collecting eight ground balls and four draw controls.

DelVal returns to action on Wednesday, April 1, opening conference play on the road at Arcadia with first draw set for 4 p.m.
