GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's lacrosse team opened MAC Freedom action at Arcadia on Wednesday afternoon, struggling to overcome an early deficit to drop the contest 18-3.
Arcadia came out firing, controlling possession and rattling off six unanswered goals over the opening 19 minutes. A stretch of second-quarter turnovers forced the Aggies to reset with a timeout, but the break sparked a response. Out of the stoppage,
Abbie Hostetler connected with
Charley Lengel-Kramer to get DelVal on the board, 6-1. The Knights continued strong, adding another seven goals in the remainder of the half while holding the Aggies to just one shot.
Arcadia's scoring pace cooled in the third, managing just three goals as the Aggies began to find a rhythm offensively with multiple scoring looks, including a shot on cage.
In the fourth,
Bailey Friedman stepped in between the pipes and made a key stop, turning aside one of three shots faced. The teams traded goals down the stretch, with Lengel-Kramer converting her second of the day on a free-position attempt before Hostetler followed with a free-position finish to close out the contest.
Emily Drake anchored the effort in goal for the first 45 minutes, notching 10 saves for another double-digit performance. Lengel-Kramer and Hostetler paced the attack with six shots apiece, with Lengel-Kramer putting an efficient 83.3% of her attempts on target.
Gabriella Guerra controlled the draw with a team-best four.
DelVal returns to action next Wednesday, Apr. 8 when they host Lebanon Valley at home at 7 p.m.
