HOBOKEN, N.J. – Delaware Valley dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Stevens on Saturday, falling 8–0 in game one and 14–13 in a back-and-forth contest in game two.
Game 1 – Delaware Valley 0 – Stevens 8
Stevens used early offense and a strong outing on the mound to take the opener.
The Ducks struck in the first inning when Wolf drove in a run with a single and later scored on a pickoff sequence to make it 2–0. Stevens extended the lead in the third as Wolf launched a three-run home run to push the advantage to 5–0.
The Ducks added to their lead in the sixth inning with a solo home run from Wilke, followed by a sacrifice fly from Krese and a solo shot from Balewitz Jr. to make it 8–0.
DelVal recorded two hits in the game from Liam Martin and Eli Scott, while drawing four walks.
Colin Foley struck out seven over four innings in the start, and Damian Pipitone added two innings of relief.
Stevens starter Finch went the distance, allowing just two hits while striking out seven.
Game 2 –Delaware Valley 13 - Stevens 14
Game two featured a high-scoring battle with multiple lead changes before Stevens completed a late comeback.
DelVal opened the scoring in the first on a passed ball, but Stevens answered with a two-run home run from Barrington. The Aggies responded in the second with RBIs from Gavin Migliori and Liam Martin to take a 3–2 lead.
Migliori added a solo home run in the fourth, and DelVal built its lead to 7–3 through five and a half innings behind timely hitting and aggressive baserunning.
Stevens responded in the sixth with three runs to cut the deficit to 7–6. In the seventh, Matteo Viola delivered a grand slam to extend the Aggies' lead to 11–6. The Ducks answered again in the bottom half, scoring five runs to tie the game at 11–11.
Delaware Valley regained the lead in the eighth with two runs, including an RBI single from Migliori to make it 13–11. In the bottom of the eighth, Stevens completed the comeback. A sacrifice fly brought the Ducks within one before Zitko connected on a two-run home run to give Stevens a 14–13 lead.
Migliori led the Aggies with four hits and three RBIs, while Viola drove in four runs. Daniel Murphy scored three times in the effort.
The Aggies return to home action on Wednesday, March 25 against Penn State Abington at 3:30pm.
