DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's lacrosse team opened its 2026 campaign in dominant fashion, rolling past Notre Dame of Maryland, 23-3, at home.
The Aggies wasted little time setting the tone. Just over two minutes into play,
Charley Lengel-Kramer converted a solo effort to put DelVal on the board. A free-position opportunity minutes later allowed
Gabriella Guerra to double the lead at 2-0. After the Gators capitalized on a free-position shot of their own, the Aggies responded with a five-goal surge.
Abbie Hostetler,
Katie Martin, and
Emmy Gagnon fueled the run as DelVal closed the first quarter in control, 6-1.
Hostetler secured her hat trick less than three minutes into the second quarter, continuing to pace the Aggie attack. Notre Dame briefly answered, but DelVal quickly regained command as Hostetler and Guerra combined for three straight goals to stretch the advantage to 10-2. The Gators capitalized during a man-down situation for what would be their final goal of the game, but the Aggies closed the half strong. Hostetler and
Piper Jones found the back of the net to send DelVal into the break with a commanding 12-3 lead.
The second half belonged entirely to the Aggies' defense and transition game, as DelVal shut out the Gators over the final 30 minutes. Seven third-quarter goals ballooned the lead to 19-3. Hostetler opened the frame by assisting Gagnon before adding another goal herself. She then connected in tandem with Guerra on back-to-back tallies, and Lengel-Kramer capped the quarter with three consecutive goals to put the game well out of reach.
DelVal added four more goals in the final quarter. Hostetler netted her seventh of the day before dishing to Martin for her second.
Shaelynn Castanaga-Acerra collected a loose ball and buried her first collegiate goal, and
Daisy Kovacs capped the scoring with her first of the season in the final 30 seconds to seal the 23-3 victory.
Hostetler led all scorers with seven goals. Guerra, Gagnon, and Lengel-Kramer each recorded hat tricks in the season-opening win.
In goal,
Emily Drake and
Bailey Friedman split time. Drake made five saves on eight shots faced across 52 minutes of action, while Friedman logged just under eight minutes between the pipes.
DelVal returns to action next Saturday, March 7, with a noon road matchup at Maritime College.
