Men's Hoops Cruises Past King’s in Conference Win

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's basketball team pulled out to a 20-point lead early in the second half and never looked back, defeating King's College 108-81 on Saturday afternoon.

JT Wright set the tone early, knocking down a three-pointer to spark a 10-2 opening run, capped by another triple from Brendon Bradford as the Aggies jumped out to an eight-point lead just 3:30 into the contest. The teams traded shots from beyond the arc over the next two minutes, with the Monarchs briefly trimming the deficit to five, 13-8.

Mike Herrin followed with a perfect trip to the free-throw line, igniting a 16-8 surge by DelVal. Bradford and Wright each buried another three during the run as the Aggies pushed their advantage to double figures midway through the half, 29-16.

King's responded with a brief 5-0 run to cut the margin to eight, but DelVal quickly seized back momentum. The Aggies continued to light it up from deep, shooting 5-of-8 from three-point range behind contributions from Brian Mordi, Antonio Redding, Kamal Johnson, and Wright. The hot shooting fueled a decisive 26-14 run, sending DelVal into the locker room with a commanding 20-point halftime lead, 55-35.

DelVal's hot shooting from long range carried over after the break, as the Aggies went 6-of-9 from the field over the opening eight minutes of the second half. Bradford stayed red-hot, knocking down all three of his attempts from beyond the arc during the stretch to fuel a 22-17 run and push DelVal to its largest lead of the game, 77-52.

The Aggies kept their foot on the gas the rest of the way, getting buckets from Redding and Herrin along with a pair of layups from MarQuel Fitzgerald before time expired to seal the 27-point victory.

With the win, the Aggies improved to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in MAC Freedom play. DelVal returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 21, hosting Stevens Institute of Technology.
