DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Mike Herrin, Antonio Redding, and Brendon Bradford all scored in double figures, but the Delaware Valley men's basketball team fell to Stevens Institute of Technology, 75-66, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday night.
Redding opened the scoring by finding Bradford for a three-pointer, and a minute later Bradford forced a turnover that led to a Herrin triple in transition. Stevens answered with a layup and a three from Maddison before DelVal responded with back-to-back three-pointers from Brian Mordi and Bradford to take a 12-5 lead.
The Ducks clawed back to tie the game with 13:28 remaining before Leming knocked down a three to give Stevens a one-point edge. Kamal Johnson answered with a layup, and Bradford later drained two more threes off assists from Jake McGinty to push the Aggies back in front, 26-21. The teams traded the lead down the stretch, and DelVal took a one-point advantage into halftime after Redding grabbed his own rebound and scored just before the buzzer.
The opening two minutes of the second half went scoreless before Redding and Scholl traded baskets. Mordi connected on his second three of the night, but Leming responded with a triple of his own midway through the half. Trailing by two, Herrin converted three straight free throws before Jeremiah Lee came up with a steal and finished at the rim to give DelVal a four-point cushion.
Stevens tied the game moments later and then took control when Leming hit back-to-back three-pointers to build the Ducks' largest lead of the night, 68-62. Herrin answered with a basket in the final minutes, but DelVal was forced to foul and Stevens closed the game on a 5-0 run to secure the 75-66 win.
