Doylestown, Pa. - The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team hosted Penn State Berk. The Aggies came out setting the tone early with a dominant first-half showing.
DelVal wasted no time getting on the board. In the eighth minute,
Gianluca D'Alertio found the back of the net with a strike into the top left corner to give the Aggies an early lead. D'Alterio doubled his tally in the 12th minute, finishing low to the left to make it 2-0 early in the first half. The Aggies outshot the visitors 10-4 in the opening 45 minutes and forced PSU keeper Josh Martin into several key saves to keep the deficit manageable.
Penn State Berk tried to respond with a shot by Nathan Fatkin that missed high.
Zydan Stewart responded with a goal assisted by
Roy Hevener, 3-0, Aggies. Less than 10 minutes later,
Josh Difillipo gained his first assist, connecting with Braeden Rawlings to put the Aggies ahead by 4 heading into the half.
After the Lions had no response to the Aggies' offense in the first half, they responded in the 66
th minute. Emir Hamzic assisted Jack Salmon to put the Lions on the board in the final stretch, with a final 4-1, Aggies.
Delaware Valley will look to continue its strong start when it hosts Cairn University, September 10
th.
