DOYLESTOWN, Pa- The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team kept its undefeated start alive with a 2-1 home victory over Cairn University. With the victory, the Aggies move to 5-0, marking the first 5-0 start in program history.
Delval wasted little time getting on the board as
Rourke Watson found the back of the net in the 7
th minute off an assist from
Roy Hevener to give the Aggies the early lead. Cairn responded in the 27
th minute when Brock Burres scored off a feed from Alijah Miller to level the match at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The second half saw both sides trading opportunities, but the breakthrough came in the 77
th minute.
Samuel Kaellefors buried a shot off a setup from
Nathan Congdon to put the Aggies ahead, 2-1. From there, Delval's defense and goalkeeper Aidan Lane, who finished with three saves, held strong to secure the victory.The Aggies outshot Cairn, 9-6, and had the edge in corner kicks, 4-3. Both teams finished with three saves apiece.
Delaware Valley will return to action this weekend, traveling for a road game at Lehman College on Saturday, September 13th, at 3:00 pm.
