The Game

The Delaware Valley University football team (0-0, 0-0 MAC) opens its 2025 campaign at home on Saturday, Sept. 6, hosting Hampden-Sydney College (0-0, 0-0 ODAC) for a 12 p.m. kickoff at Robert A. Lipinski Field.

This will be just the second meeting between the programs. The Aggies won last year's season opener in Virginia, 41-21, behind a three-touchdown performance from senior Nahsir Morgan, highlighted by a program-record 99-yard touchdown reception on DelVal's first offensive play.

2024 Records
  • Delaware Valley: 8-3 (7-2 MAC)
  • Hampden-Sydney: 5-5 (3-4 ODAC)
Storylines to Watch
  • Both head coaches, Mike Isgro (DelVal) and Vince Luvara (H-SC), enter their second seasons leading their respective programs.
  • DelVal looks to rebound after King's College snapped the Aggies' run of six straight MAC titles in 2024.
  • The Aggies debut a new-look offense following the graduations of QB Louie Barrios IV and RB Jack Fallon. Transfer Mike Galasso (Kutztown) earns the start under center, while sophomore Brady Beres takes over as the feature back.
  • Veteran WR Alvaro Lora returns for a graduate year. He led DelVal returners in 2024 with 28 receptions, 573 yards, and 7 touchdowns. He'll be supported by a deep corps of seniors and sophomore Kahir Thompson.
  • Defensively, linebackers Jeremiah Clark and Micah Bootman will captain second-year coordinator Mike Neale's unit. Clark led the Aggies with 94 total tackles last season, adding 9.0 TFLs and a half-sack.
  • Sophomore Brendan Hazell handles both kicking and punting duties. As a freshman, he went 29-for-36 on PATs; DelVal attempted only one field goal all year.
  • For Hampden-Sydney, senior QB Carter Sido returns after throwing for 1,842 yards and 22 touchdowns last season. RB Terry Hicks looks to build on his sophomore campaign in which he rushed for 855 yards and 9 scores. The Tigers' offensive line features four sophomores and freshman center Braden McIntire.
  • Defensively, H-SC must replace standout Brendan Wallace, who paced the team with 74 tackles, 11.5 TFLs, and 5.0 sacks in 2024. Sophomore Parks Cromwell, who tied Wallace with 35 solo tackles and led the team with 8 pass breakups, anchors the returning secondary.
  • The Aggies are receiving votes in both the preseason AFCA D3 Coaches Poll and the preseason D3football.com Top 25. DelVal shared the top spot with King's in the MAC preseason coaches poll, while the Tigers were picked fifth in the ODAC.
