DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley women's soccer fell to Alvernia University, 4-0, on Tuesday night, snapping their three-game win streak.
Neither side registered a shot in the opening minutes until Alvernia's Bell sent one wide. Nicole Ocejo made her first save in the 11th minute on McKeown, but the Wolves broke through after an Aggie foul, when Flaherty scored at 16:41. A few minutes later, Alexa DelGiudice responded with a shot on goal but was stopped. After Piper Jones had an attempt saved, Kieran Gilligan committed a foul in the box, and Flaherty buried the penalty kick in the 29th to make it 2-0. DelVal pushed back with chances as Marissa Rogers fired one high and Jarleny Aguilar-Acuna had a shot saved before halftime.
Ocejo made a stop early in the second half, but McDonough extended Alvernia's lead to 3-0 off a pass from Stair. Aguilar-Acuna was denied again, and despite two more saves by Ocejo, McDonough struck for her second goal to make it 4-0. Jenna Green put a shot on target in the 75th, and Woodward nearly added another for the Wolves when her attempt hit the post. Rogers picked up her first yellow card of the season in the 79th minute, and Ocejo closed the night with her fifth and final save.
With the loss, the Aggies fell to 3-4-3 on the year. They return to action on Saturday, October 4, when they open MAC Freedom play at DeSales University.
