Football Falls to Lebanon Valley 21-18 at Home

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Delaware Valley University fell to Lebanon Valley College 21-18 on Saturday after costly turnovers ended their 10-game winning streak against the Dutchmen.

Aziyah Garland tackled quarterback Klitsch for a one-yard loss on LVC's opening drive, forcing a three-and-out. But after two incompletions, Mike Galasso was intercepted by Foust, and a personal foul penalty on A.J. Snowden set the Dutchmen up at the DelVal 19. Three plays later, Jeremiah Clark answered with an interception to give the Aggies the ball back. Justin Brown and Alvaro Lora chipped in short gains for a first down, and Galasso looked for Gavin Migliori in the endzone. A defensive pass interference extended the drive, but the Aggies were called for an ineligible man downfield that wiped away a would-be touchdown. Migliori later hauled in a 20-yard catch, but the drive stalled, and Brendan Hazell drilled a field goal to give DelVal a 3-0 lead.

In the second quarter, the Aggie defense came up big again. After a mix of short passes, Garland sacked Klitsch on third down, and Webb hurried him into an incompletion to force a turnover on downs deep in Aggie territory. Jerimya Paula broke free for a 14-yard run, and Galasso hit Kahir Thompson for seven yards, but Galasso was intercepted again looking for Migliori in their own half. LVC methodically marched 11 plays before Bryant punched it in from the five. The extra point made it 7-3 with 1:10 left in the half.

DelVal pushed back before the break. Lora pulled in a 13-yard catch, and a roughing the passer flag pushed the Aggies to the LVC 35. Facing 4th-and-2, Galasso looked for Alex Rufe in the endzone, but the pass fell incomplete, and the Aggies trailed at halftime.
The offense struck quickly after the break. Galasso connected with Migliori for 13 yards, then Rufe broke free down the sideline for a 61-yard touchdown, putting DelVal back in front 10-7. The Dutchmen answered right away: Klitsch hit Delgado for 44 yards, then Dion scored from seven yards out to retake the lead, 14-10.

After forcing a three-and-out, LVC was called for offsides on the punt, giving the Aggies new life. Paula picked up a first down, and Johnson added a 26-yard catch, but he fumbled, turning it over. The defense responded with another stop, but Galasso was intercepted for the third time. LVC capitalized again, riding Dion on the ground before Grimm powered into the endzone for a 21-10 advantage early in the fourth.

The Aggies weren't done. Starting at their own 25, Brown shouldered the load with a series of strong runs, including a 20-yard burst into Dutchmen territory. Galasso then hit Migliori for a touchdown, and Brown muscled in the two-point conversion to close the gap to 21-18 with 8:39 left.

DelVal's defense nearly got the stop they needed, pushing LVC to 4th-and-1 at the Aggie 27, but the Dutchmen converted and drained the clock to seal the win.

With the loss, DelVal falls to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the MAC. After their bye week, the Aggies return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Eastern University.
