DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Delaware Valley University women's soccer extended its win streak to three with a 2-1 victory over Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday evening.
The Aggies nearly struck early when Alexa DelGiudice's long-range effort was saved just 42 seconds into the match. Goalkeeper Nicole Ocejo made her first stop on Reeves in the 4th minute, and after a stretch without chances, Jarleny Aguilar-Acuna broke the deadlock in the 25th. She beat two defenders and the keeper to put DelVal ahead 1-0. Rutgers-Camden pushed back with four quick shots, but they were blocked or off target. In the 34th minute, Marissa Rogers sent in a shot that a defender tried to clear with a header, only for it to deflect into the net, doubling the Aggies' lead.
The Raptors controlled much of the second half, but Ocejo stood tall with seven saves after the break to anchor the defense. DelGiudice sent a chance wide in the 78th before Reeves pulled one back for Camden a minute later to make it 2-1. Despite an 83rd-minute yellow card to Ellen Olbrich, DelVal's defense held firm, with Ocejo making her final stop at 87:15 to secure the victory.
With the win, the Aggies improve to 3-5-1 on the season. They return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 30, hosting Alvernia University at 7:00 p.m.
