ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Delaware Valley women's soccer outpaced Cedar Crest College in the second half, coming away with a 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Nicole Ocejo was tested just 18 seconds in, making the stop before another Falcon shot sailed wide.
Marissa Rogers had the Aggies' first look but fired wide. After another Ocejo save, Cedar Crest's Stevenson broke through in the 15th minute to put the Falcons on top. Just minutes later,
Alexa DelGiudice buried a penalty kick for her first goal of the season, evening the score at 1-1. Ocejo came up with back-to-back stops, and in the 37th minute, DelGiudice put another shot on target. Rogers pounced on the rebound, slotting it home to give DelVal a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
The Aggies carried the momentum into the second half as Rogers and
Dekota Barthold combined for three shots in the opening six minutes.
Jarleny Aguilar-Acuna was denied shortly after, and DelGiudice had another chance saved between a pair of Falcon shots that Ocejo turned aside to preserve the lead. Cedar Crest earned a corner in the 83rd minute but failed to register a shot. DelVal dominated the half, outshooting the Falcons 24-5, with Ocejo making four key saves to lock up the win.
With the victory, the Aggies improve to 2-5-1 (0-0 MAC Freedom) and return home Wednesday, Sept. 24, to host Rutgers-Camden at 7:00 p.m.
