DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Delaware Valley women's soccer fell in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday, dropping a 1–0 decision to Marymount University on a goal in the final two minutes.
The Aggies nearly struck first when
Marissa Rogers had a shot saved just 30 seconds into the match. Goalkeeper
Nicole Ocejo then turned aside four straight shots over the next 10 minutes to keep the game scoreless. Rogers had another chance in the 12th minute, but her attempt was stopped — the last shot DelVal would register for the remainder of the contest.
Ocejo stayed busy throughout the half, piling up eight saves through 45 minutes. In the second, she made two more stops to her right and saw another Marymount attempt clang off the post in the 62nd minute. With just 1:28 left in regulation, the Saints finally broke through as Abdeen slotted home the game-winner for the 1–0 final.
Ocejo finished with 11 saves in the loss. The Aggies drop to 0–5–1 on the season and will continue their road swing Wednesday, September 17, at Cairn University with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
