BRONX, N.Y.— The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team's historic unbeaten start came to an end Saturday as the Aggies fell on the road to Lehman College, 3-2, in a hard-fought non-conference matchup.
Lehman jumped ahead quickly in the second half when Brandon Dennis scored just two minutes after the restart to make it 1-0. The Aggies responded in the 66th minute as
Amos Debah found the back of the net with a low strike to even the score at one apiece.
The Lightning regained the advantage in the 75th minute off a goal by Cyrus Blake, assisted by Ashraf Abubakar, but once again DelVal showed resilience. With just under seven minutes left in regulation,
Aaron Osborne netted the equalizer to bring the Aggies level at 2-2.
The decisive moment came in the 89th minute when Lehman's Rene Lopez slotted home the game-winner to secure the 3-2 result and hand DelVal its first loss of the season.
Despite the setback, the Aggies produced a strong offensive push late in the match with shots on goal from Osborne and Debah, but Lehman goalkeeper Matthew Strainz came up with the saves to preserve the win.
The Aggies fall to 5-1 overall after the defeat, while Lehman improves to 3-1 on the year.
