DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - Delaware Valley Men's Soccer opened with a 4-1 victory over Eastern University, thanks to a game-winning goal by first-year
Elijah Purtle.
The Eagles started the game with a goal by Zach Sievert in the 5
th.
Everett Kurtz shot four minutes after the goal, which sailed high. Soon followed with a shot by Delval's Gianluca D'Alterio's goal in the 14
th. Soon after the Aggies' goal to tie the game, the Eagles had two attempts at the net before being off target for both. Later with 10 minutes left in the half after a shot by
Zydan Stewart, which was saved,
Elijah Purtle found the back of the net to give the Aggies the lead.
After the half, the Aggies kept their momentum, and
Nick Becker made his first save of the game in the 55
th minute. 5 minutes later
Roy Hevener assisted
Rourke Watson on a corner kick to secure the 3-1 lead. A pair of yellow cards were dealt to Eastern players shortly before Becker had back-to-back saves. In the 80
th minute after a hand full of subs for the Aggies,
Kelvin Murray found the back of the net with Stewart picking up an assist. With the final score 4-1.
Followed by the win, the Aggies improve to 1-0 on the young season. They are back in action at home in Doylestown, Tuesday, September 2
nd hosting Penn State Scranton at 4 pm.
