Baseball Wins First Conference Game Against King’s

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley University baseball team splits their doubleheader against King's College (Pa) recording their first conference win 4-0.
 
GAME 1 – DVU 4 - King's 0

After two quick ground-outs that ended the top of the first inning, the Aggies wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Liam Martin reached first on a fielder's choice and came around to score on a double to center field by Blake Ramos, giving the Aggies an early 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second, the Aggies extended their lead with a pair of runs. With Andrew Schneider on second, Gavin Migliori ripped a double down the left field line. Reese Hackett followed with a single to score Migliori and make it 3-0.

After a quiet third inning, the Aggies struck again in the fourth. Martin led off with a single through the left side, then stole second base before scoring on a single to center by Ramos.

On the mound, Connor Esbenshade got the start for the Aggies, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out four. John Slover came on in relief for the next two innings and kept the shutout intact. Martin led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, while Ramos added a 2-for-3 day with two RBIs.
 
GAME 2 – DVU 4 – King's 16

In the top of the first inning, Reese Hackett reached first base after being hit by a pitch. He advanced to second and came around to score the Aggies' first run of game two on a line-drive single to center by Nate Ludwick. The Monarch's offense started in the bottom of the second inning, capitalizing on four Aggie errors and capped off by a grand slam from Zach Jenkins to plate eight runs.
 
The Aggies tried to chip away at the deficit in the top of the third inning. Reese Hackett led off with a single, and Liam Martin followed with a double to bring him home. Braedyn Kormanic kept the momentum going with an RBI single, but the Aggies still trailed 8-3. DelVal scored one more run in the top of the fourth inning after Migliori scored on a double from Hackett. The Monarchs scored six more runs in the bottom of the fifth off of three hits and two more Aggie errors and scored two more in the bottom of the sixth inning. King's College took the second game, 16-4. Reese Hackett finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate, driving in one run.
 
The Aggies' next game is Monday, April 7th at 3:30 p.m. when they travel to King's College for the third MAC Freedom game in the series.
