DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley baseball honored its seniors on Friday ahead of their home season finale against FDU-Florham.
Senior
Derek Cannon set the tone early, retiring the Devils in order in the top of the first, including a strikeout to end the frame. The Aggies wasted no time getting on the board in their half of the inning.
Reese Hackett roped a triple off the center field fence, and
Gavin Migliori followed with a double to give DelVal an early 1-0 lead.
Blake Ramos then snuck a single down the third base line to bring home Migliori. With two outs,
James Miskanic doubled down the left field line to score Ramos and extend the lead to 3-0.
FDU-Florham responded in the second inning, erupting for five runs, including a two-run homer from Diaz that landed on the train tracks in right field. DelVal threatened in the bottom half by loading the bases with no outs, but couldn't capitalize.
The Devils continued to pile on with four more runs in the fourth, chasing Cannon from the mound.
Jeremy Kapsa came on in relief and allowed another run, making it 9-3. Migliori and Ramos both singled in the bottom of the inning, but
Ty Gossel struck out to end the threat.
Trailing 10-3 in the fifth, Andrew Schnieder singled through the left side and advanced to third on
Liam Bennett's base hit. Bennett then stole second, and Schneider scored on the throw down.
In the seventh, down by ten, Miskanic and Bennett reached base before
Patrick Higgins delivered a single to center, scoring Miskanic for DelVal's fifth run.
The Aggies plated their final two runs in the ninth. Bennett walked and scored on a triple by Higgins down the first baseline. Migliori followed with a walk and later scored after stealing second and coming home on a groundout by Ramos.
