DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley University baseball team drops two MAC Freedom Conference games to the Flying Dutchmen from Lebanon Valley University after scoring four runs in both games.
Game 1 | Delaware Valley 4 – Lebanon Valley 21
The Flying Dutchmen started the game off with a single to left field. After two strikeouts from starting pitcher
Connor Esbenshade, the Dutchmen put one run on the board early after a wild pitch. The Aggies responded immediately. In the bottom of the first inning,
Reese Hackett and
Patrick Higgins both reached base. After a ground-out,
Nate Ludwick singled to first base which scored both Aggies, giving them a 2-1 lead.
In the top of the third inning, the Dutchmen scored three more runs on one hit and one error. Lebanon Valley took back the lead 4-2. After a scoreless fourth and fifth inning, the Dutchmen scored 17 runs in the sixth inning on eight singles and two doubles. With bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, Hackett flied out to center field, scoring one. The Aggies added another run in the bottom of the seventh after back-to-back doubles from
Liam Martin and Ludwick.
Game 2 | Delaware Valley 4 – Lebanon Valley 15
After a scoreless first inning, the Dutchmen scored first on a wild pitch after they had base runners on second and third base. After a ground-out in the infield, Lebanon Valley had a 2-0 lead. They added one more run in the third and three more runs in the fourth inning.
The Dutchmen pulled away in the top of the fifth inning after scoring eight runs on six hits. In the bottom of the inning, the Aggies put runs up on the board after
Daniel Murphy,
Jake Seibert, and
Tyler Mellinger had back-to-back singles. After Hackett was hit by a pitch that scored one, Higgins tripled marking down three RBIs. The Dutchmen took the win after a solo home run in the seventh inning, the score 15-4.
The Aggies' next game is Tuesday, April 1
st at 6:00 p.m. when they travel to Rutgers-Camden for a non-conference match-up.
