Baseball Scores Seven Runs in Game Against Cairn

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Delaware Valley University baseball team scores seven runs in loss to Highlanders from Cairn University in a non-conference match-up.
 
Reese Hackett started the offense for the Aggies with a single to right center. After a sacrifice bunt that advanced him to second base, Liam Martin tripled, giving the
Aggies a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Highlanders quickly took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. After an opening walk and a fielder's choice play, the Highlanders tied the game and scored the go ahead run after a bases loaded walk. They added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning on four hits and one wild pitch. Cairn held the lead 5-1.
 
After Gavin Migliori drew a walk in the fourth inning, he scored on a pass ball, the score 5-2. Cairn added eight runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Highlanders scored on two singles, a double, and two triples. With two runners on in the top of the fifth inning, Migliori singled through to the left side, scoring one. With bases loaded Patrick Higgins walked and Martin singled, adding two more runs to the board. Cairn still held the lead 13-5. The Highlanders scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth.
 
The Highlanders added one more run in both the sixth and the eighth inning. With a runner on third base, K Boyer hit a sacrifice fly giving the Aggies their sixth run of the game. With runners on first and third, Martin grounded out that hit in his third RBI of the game. The Highlanders took their 12th win of the season 17-7.
 
The Aggies' next game is Friday 28th at 3:30 p.m. where they travel to Lebanon Valley College to face the Flying Dutchmen for a MAC Freedom conference game.
