CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Delaware Valley University baseball team falls 0-2 in MAC Freedom Conference play after loses at DeSales University.
GAME 1
To begin the game,
Reese Hackett was hit by a pitch and then left stranded on third base after three consecutive ground-balls. In the top of the second inning,
Nate Ludwick singled down the right field line and was followed up by a single from
John Dzielawa. However, both runners were left on base after an Aggie strikeout.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Bulldogs put three runs on the board off of one hit. After an opening walk and a DeSales double that scored him, the Aggies walked in a run. With bases loaded, a Bulldog scored on a wild pitch giving them a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs scored one more run in the bottom of the fourth on a fielder's choice play.
Connor Esbenshade started on the mound for the Aggies, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out three.
Patrick Flynn pitched 3.1 innings in relief, striking out three.
GAME 2
After a scoreless first inning, the Bulldogs scored first, taking a 2-0 lead. After a walk and a throwing error that scored one, a Bulldog tripled, scoring the second run.
Daniel Murphy and
James Miskanic attempted to kick-start the Aggies offense in the top of the third inning. Murphy singled, and Miskanic reached on a throwing error. After a double-play, the Bulldogs ended the inning.
The Bulldogs added two more runs to their lead in the bottom of the third on four hits. Ludwick and
Andrew Schneider started the fourth inning off with singles but were left on base after another strikeout.
Derek Cannon started on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings with five strikeouts. He allowed four runs on seven hits.
After two more scoreless innings, DeSales scored four runs adding onto their 8-0 lead. After having bases loaded twice, the Bulldogs added two more runs to take their second conference win, 10-0.
The Aggies' next game is Monday, March 17
th at 3:30 p.m. when they face DeSales University for their home opener.
